Anyone with tattoo's....?

Sat, Sep 5, 2009 at 3:35 PM by Emilyyy

I was wondering just how expensive they are?

For my 18th b-day [2 more yrs...-.-;]my sister said she'll pay for my first tattoo, but I'll probably end up paying for 1/2.
I want "My scars remind me that the past is real" on my left wrist....

Anyone know approximately how much that may cost?

Thanks in advance :]

the artist I'm going to is a friend of a friend and she charges £80 for custom work any size any color any place as standard. but I dunno about other places. it all depends on what I just mentioned and ofcourse the place itself x

It shouldn't be too expensive. If its just standard writing it shouldn't take too long. Most shops go by the hour... it all depends where you go i guess.... Just remember..... You get what you pay for and it will be there for the rest of your life so don't go to the cheapest place. You might regret it in the end.

A piece of advice, whether you take it or not, please wait till after you are 18. Don't make a stupid move no matter how much something means to you. Also, when you do go to get your tattoo, make sure it is clean and safe such as things like are they opening a fresh needle, are they wearing gloves, etc. And lastly, the price depends on the place. it'll most likely start around somewhere in the two hundreds if you go to a decent place but check around and start looking at artists you like and then find prices from them. Hope this helps.

and, what is also important ask questions about all the things, because it´s a really easy way to find out...
e.g. if you have any kind of allergies or stuff, go straight to someone who had some medicinal training or stuff.

Sure, all such things make it more expensive - but at least for me I decided to pay more because I felt really save and could enjoy the whole, knowing it won´t go wrong and such...

Don't go to the one in Accrington; that's all the advice I can give. Those guys are clueless. My unsteady hand would do a better job. (This didn't happen to me but someone I know).

I have 4 tattoos (soon to be 5). I pay £60 per hour. The 4 tattoos I've got are really small and took less than an hour. My next one is gonna be my biggest one and will cost me £120 altogether as it is very intricate so it is gonna take 2 hours to do. Different places charge differently though. Just make sure you find a good, reputable place. If they are a decent place they will ID you if you look under 18, even if you are. I'm really lucky that I have found a really good tattoo artist to do all mine.

I have a few small tattoos like that...

My crackhead was $40, my love kanji was $60, and my music note heart was $70.

Shop minimums are usually (here anyways) $40. There's a very reputable shop here, who has won awards, etc and their minimum is $40. But do not go some place just based on price. Go somewhere that has received some credit/recognition/awards. Use common sense, ask people you know who may have tattoos, etc. Look up the parlors in your area online, do some research :)

It does depend upon the artist and the studio. I have 12 tattoo's but most of my early ones were set prices starting at around £20 going up to £60 but they were done by a great artist and still look good 8 years on.
Although the artist i go to now does charge by the hour and it's a fee of £50 per hour or maybe more depending upon your design and how much detail is required.
My last tattoo is 5 stars that go up my left side which took 4 ours and my artist charged me £50 per star but its my favorite out of all my tattoos.

My artist charges £60 per hour. He's usually pretty good at knowing how long the design will take so I know roughly how much it will cost before I get it.

The shop I go to, shop min. is $50. The line from Scars and Scars itself only cost me $60 'cuz of the type of lettering and my "It takes horns to hold up my halo" tattoo on my left shoulder only ran me $130 (lots of colors). My advice to you would be to check around, different tattoo shops, explain what you want and they will let you know what it will run ya. And of course make sure its a clean shop, new needles, uses gloves, etc.

i have around ten tattoos, i made the mistake of going to a kind of shitty artist for my frist few because they were cheaper, SO DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!
(& since i got my deathbat done ive been going to a mega amazing tattoo artist from my area for my future tattoos =] and my friend who is a great wee tattooer is going to redo the crap bits for me =]) but then again, don't let them rip you off, If your getting lettering, some places may charge per letter, and some places have a small fee for tattooing wrists, just like they do hands, necks, fingers, faces etc... good luck with it!!!

this ride that takes me through life leads me into darkness but emerges into light...

So you still have alot of time to figure it all out. I have 30+ tats. My suggestion to you is take the next couple years and everyone you see with a tat (not 1 or 2 tats, but a few at least), and ask them about it. Where they got them, did they like their artist, if all their pieces are from the same artist, and if not, why not. Are they clean, do they use a fresh needle EVERYTIME!! You'll eventually hear of some definate no no places to go, and some very reputable places to go. And take the next couple years and save a little here and there. Try to find a place that charges you a set price for the piece your getting, so you are prepared in advance. And don't hesitate to ask the artist to show you how they sterilize their equiptment, if they wont show, you go!!! And last but not least, if all you are worried about is the price or the pain... its a tattoo.. its gonna cost and will have some amount of pain. Sorry I wrote a novel. happy inking and good luck :)
