theres really different types of straightedge; some don't drink caffeine, or take any medication.

the basic straightedge definition, though, is NO smoking,NO alcohol consumption, NO drugs, and NO promiscuous sex.

As for me,I take a prescription medication and over-the-counter stuff for stomach aches and stuff, but I refuse to ever do any illegal shit.

i'm abit straight edge then. but not by choice. my body can't take any of that... well except the sex thing and of course medication.. but you know what I mean ;) x

yeah,it was started by Minor Threat in the 80's, but not all straightedge people have to listen to the same music, wear the same type of clothes, etc.

I've honestly met someone who listens to pop who was straightedge.
It's more of a lifestyle then a stereotypical thing like 'emo' or 'punks' or whatever.

I'm straightedge. I haven't held that "title" for that long, I've only really been sXe for 7 days officially, but have lived the sXe lifestyle my entire life.

You know the way I look at it is like this:

The TRUE sXe obviously is the no sex blah blah blah, the shit we all know with the drugs & alcohol.

But the way I look at it, MOST sXe kids DONT give up sex, and still consider to be sXe true.

SO, if you can trade off, then I may as well be sXe because im totally anti drug, I dont have sex, but I do drink just not NEAR as much as I used to (thank god).


so if you could trade off the sex thing for the alcohol ;)... ahahahaha


I actually WAS sxe for nearly a year, but that was also the year that twords the end I found myself on buses partying my ass off with bands (opiate for the masses for one), so there went the no booze part, lol

People would say I am.
But I am not, mainly because I have only known ones that are not really sXe..they act like they are then the wrong kind of people get into there life and it is gone, to me it seems the more people try to stay away from that stuff, the less they end up staying away from it.
I have no idea about you. But the reason for this could be because the people I new were kind of followers.
I stay away from weed mainly because I know a few potheads and I never want to end up like that, and trust me thats the main fear that stops me from ever really wanting to try it.
And I do not care to try anything else either.

I could guess I am. The stuff just doesn't interest me, and I don't need it. I'm good the way I am.

If people are straight edge then good for them, if that is how they choose to live. Personally I am what would be defined as wobbly edge.

I used to be like any young man and go out and get annhilitaed on drink, and also sleep around alot.

Now I go through periods of complete nothingness, where I don't drink at all, but then every so often I will have a few beers, generally when my health is suffereing anyway cos I cant afford decent food.

Mostly I like to be completely sober, though sex will never be off my menu, though now it's wth my gf of 3 years.

I have never even heard of this phrase. I really need to get a better social life.

Point I forgot to make, pain killers.

I tend to keep away from them, not because they are addicitve or anything (though they are) but the more you take them the less capabkle your body becomes of handling pain as you get immune, hence addictions for heavy users.

My dad as chronic arthritis and takes tons because he has to, though I often wonder if he hadnt taken so many (as prescribed albeit) years ago he might not need em as much.
