Found out today of a 6th family member diagnosed with cancer. She has CML, which as you may or may not know, is a very bad diagnosis. Life expectancy is 4 years tops. She has 3 daughters, all under the age of 13. Happy birthday to me. It's funny how birthdays lose importance as you get older...no more real excitement, just another day. I miss that feeling of importance. Perhaps if I wasn't in med school and could properly celebrate. thing would have been different. But now, there is no room in my life for anything but my pathology notes.
